Fallout 3: Mothership Zeta Review (Xbox 360)

The fifth and possibly final DLC add-on has arrived for Fallout 3. To sum up the plot simply, Mothership Zeta will take place on an alien space craft and you’ll have to find your way out.

As with previous add-ons, a mysterious radio signal will be broadcasted throughout the wastelands. You won’t be able to understand the signal since it’s in an alien language, but it does point you in the right direction. Upon reaching the destination, you’ll discover a crashed alien craft along with a dead alien body. Stepping closer to the ship gets you abducted by the Mothership. Once you come to, you’ll see faded blurry figures of aliens, and to put it nicely, they’ve taken a liking to your body.

Your character will awaken in a holding cell with another abductee. Together, you break out of the holding cell and are then free to explore the ship, eventually meeting up with more humans. A Death Ray will be discovered by your posse and you learn what the aliens intend to do with it, so of course; it’s your goal to disable it.

Exploring the ship is exhilarating since this is quite the unique experience in Fallout 3. More alien weapons can be picked up and they’re all pretty neat and powerful. Besides that, there isn’t a whole lot to do on the ship beside killing lots of aliens and completing objectives. Going through the ship later in the add-on gets a tad boring as everything sort of looks the same and most of the objectives aren’t too exciting.

Getting through Mothership Zeta will take roughly three hours. The ship is rather large, but since it’s all corridors and open rooms it’s all a bit linear. If this really is the last add-on for Fallout 3 there shouldn’t be too many complaints due to Zeta’s ending, which is extremely satisfying. Mothership Zeta should absolutely be added to anybody’s Fallout 3 add-on collection.

Verdict:8/10
