Banjo-Kazooie: NAB and Viva Pinata 2 to be Priced at $39.99?

Two of Microsoft’s key family-friendly titles might be discounted when they ship this Fall. On a number of online retailers, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata 2 have been mysteriously priced at $39.99.

This wasn’t the first time that this price point has popped up, either. In early July, the $39.99 price point was shown on GameStop’s online store for both Rare titles.

Rare’s Community Manager, George Kelion, posted on the NeoGAF forums at the time, saying that he could not confirm or deny the price point.

“As I said on another forum, I’m not confirming or denying anything. Why? Well, other than the fact I’m not allowed to, I really have no clue about how our games are priced, I’m just a lowly Community Manager.”

Forum posters at NeoGAF began snooping around the Internet and found that GameStop, Amazon and Newegg all have Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata 2 priced at a sub $40 price point again. (The lone exception, however, is Amazon which still has Viva Pinata 2 priced at $59.99)

Whether or not these prices will prove to actually stick is the big question. Though, between Rare’s community manager’s statement last month and apparent retailer unity on the price point, this might actually be the price that Microsoft goes with when these games ship.

Even if it proves to be false, you might be able to lock in that Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts price at $40 regardless. Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee, after all.
