Yep, the rumors were true. Super Street Fighter IV is a real thing, and it has been officially revealed via GameSpot.
Instead of being downloadable content for the original Street Fighter IV like many were expecting, this is going to be another full-fledged retail release. Capcom explained this decision though, saying that due to code present in the original game, implementing the changes made in SSFIV straight up isn’t possible.
But let’s get to the juicy details – what exactly Super Street Fighter IV is. This is basically Street Fighter IV in its entirety, with gobs of extras thrown on top. There will be at least eight new playable characters, with T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and the new Juri currently the only ones we know about, and some significant tweaks and rebalances made to the original cast of characters.
And if you were wondering, no, Super Street Fighter IV will not be compatible with the original, making online versus play between the games impossible.
Super Street Fighter IV will be available in Spring 2010.
Anyone have any opinions on this announcement? I’m personally pretty into the idea, though I could imagine some people might be a bit frustrated having to buy a second copy of Street Fighter IV.
