Jonathan Blow, the mind behind last year’s fantastic Braid, has confirmed to EndSights that he has indeed moved on to his next project — a puzzle-exploration game.
On his development blog, we spotted a couple of posts that seemed to point to a new project — chiefly, two posts asking for a Lead Artist and a 3D Environment Concept Artist.
“Work with a small team on a puzzle-exploration game that is philosophical, and quiet, and is being made for reasons other than crass profit motive,” wrote Blow, adding: “Run by the designer/programmer of the critically-acclaimed game Braid, the team is fully-funded and pay is high.”
When asked if these hires were for his next project, Blow confirmed.
“The job postings are for the next project, yes,” he said to EndSights in an e-mail.
However, because he has moved on, doesn’t necessarily mean development for Braid has ended.
“There are still some Braid things that are going to happen, but often those are being worked on by other developers now (for example, Hothead did the Mac port of Braid),” Blow said.
Blow’s project seems to be a little bit further in the horizon, however, as the Lead Artist job posting states that the development cycle is “an estimated 2-[years]“.
