Back when we did our “Top 5 Xbox 360 Games of 2009″ article at the end of last year, Dead Island was my game of choice. I mean, I guess you could say I’m an avid believer in the oncoming zombie apocalypse, so when I heard of a zombie game pitting you on a zombie infested tropical island, I figured it would be the perfect wya to further prepare for the real thing.
But the fact that we haven’t heard anything about Dead Island in years started to get me a bit worried that this game might not actually come to fruition – that is until now. Techland (you know, the Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood guys) has just made it clear that while we may not be hearing much about the game as of yet, it’s still on the way.
“I can understand how impatient our fans must be to see more news and assets from Dead Island,” said Techland international brand manager Blazej Krakowiak in an e-mail to G4.”Unfortunately our agreement with the game’s worldwide publisher imposed a media silence on us. All we are allowed to say is that the game is in development and doing great and that all future updates regarding the game will come directly from the publisher.”
“I know it’s not much at the moment,” said Krakowiak. “We’re really excited with what we’ll be able to share with fans but for the moment our hands are tied.”
While it may not look like it’s coming out this year like I had been hoping, at least we can be rest assured that sometime, somewhere, we’ll be tearing through the flesh of zombies on Dead Island’s tropical paradise.
