Crazy things are happening on the game development side of things today. Earlier today, we got word of ZeniMax buying id Software and now we’re getting the news that Electronic Arts has combined the RPG gurus over at BioWare with the MMO prowess of Mythic Entertainment to create a new MMO/RPG group.

The new group will be headed by BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka while BioWare’s other co-founder, Greg Zeschuk, will take on the role of Group Creative Officer, and Rob Denton will serve as General Manager of Mythic. Also, Mark Jacobs, the former GM of Mythic is no longer with EA.

This sounds like quite the dream team for making some sort of crazy MMO/RPG. I’m pretty stoked to see what comes to fruition from all of this, though I have next to no idea what to expect.
