Apparently, Activision isn’t limiting the idea of paid online content to the Call of Duty franchise, as Red Octane and Activision are looking into the idea of a monthly subscription allowing access to all of Guitar Hero’s downloadable content.
In an interview with the Seattle Times (via 1Up), Red Octane co-founder Kai Huang spoke as though the idea has been thrown around for a while now:
“That’s definitely one of the things we would love to do. There are a lot of issues around music licensing. Consumers want it; I know I want it. We’re trying to make that happen.”
The most important issue here is the potential price of the service. Personally, anything over $10 a month seems to be pushing it, and not simply because the economy is a wreck, but because the current DLC is downright laughable when compared to the mega-list available in Rock Band.
What do you guys think? Would you bite on a subscription service for future music games? Or are you, like me, so jaded that you’ve grown past caring at this point?
