During a Microsoft tour of studios in the United Kingdom, in which the companies were able to demo the Natal technology and discuss future plans for the system, details apparently slipped regarding the motion control unit’s release.
According to sources speaking with MCV, Natal will launch sometime in November 2010, and will be supported by 14 games at launch, and a stock of 5 million units in both solo packages and 360/camera bundles.
The most shocking rumor of all however, is the price, which is a mere £50, or $80 US, which would make this supposedly industry changing peripheral cheaper than even the wireless adapter many use to connect to Live. This is due to one developer’s claim that Microsoft is “trying to get as close as possible to ‘impulse buy.’” Adding to that is another source who claims there are talks of a lower, £30 ($50) price tag, for the same purpose.
Microsoft, as expected, has released a statement claiming that they do not comment on “rumor and speculation,” but when thinking logically, it seems the company would smash the rumor altogether if it was were completely devoid of merit, instead of taking such a “laissez faire” approach. Unfortunately though, this is Microsoft we’re talking about, where disorganized (or false) leaks and announcements are nothing new, so only time will tell at this point.
